How much is Jade worth per gram or other value?
I was recently given a large pjece of jade, about 300g block with a silver Kiwi on top. HOw much would the resale value be (i’ve checked and its ok to sell, it was given to me as an aid for university funds)
There are two minerals which are commonly referred to as Jade. One is nephrite – often called New Zealand jade. Yours, having a Kiwi on it sounds a very likely candidate for this type. This material is not very valuable and can be bought for $1 per gram with no problem. If it has a high degree of transparency this price can be higher.
The other type is Jadeite or true jade. This material is far more costly and, depending on quality can be among the most expensive gems in the world. Recently a single strand necklace of 27 beads 14mm. dia. sold for a record price of $9.3 million at auction.
Take your piece to a dealer for a valuation as it is probably worth more as souvenir of New Zealand than it is as a piece of nephrite.
